An interesting statistic mentioned in the article is that in 1989 over 700,000 Filipinas were married or became fiancées to Australians, Germans, Taiwanese and British nationals. That just seems like quite a few. I have talked with a few men from Taiwan who would consider marrying a Filipina. Although most Taiwanese guys I’m familiar with, who consider marring a foreigner, are looking to Vietnam.

I believe that there are about 2 million Philippine women overseas workers at any given time. And most of those are in the Middle East and Hong Kong. This would make Filipinas who marry and immigrate to other countries a little less than half of those working overseas and I imagine a measurable source of foreign revenue.  I have to point out that these statistic are taken from different years so it may not be exactly accurate.

The articles said that “In 1994, 19,000 Filipinas left to join husbands and fiancees in other nations, mostly in the U.S” it also stated that “50,000 Filipinas married through mail-order” I think this is a 1989 statistic, although I could not verify this with the reference source the article quoted. If that is true then American men marring Filipino brides has decreased significantly.

What makes this game so interesting is each group is highly motivated to get what the other has. This is not the case with everyone in this type of interracial relationship. However, there are enough people gaming the system to form some stereotypes. As with many stereotypes there is some foundation of truth to these assumptions. Men want the pleasure if an attractive and often younger woman. Women who are foreign nationals often want a green card and financial gains. In fact there is a whole fake marriage industry built around getting foreign women green cards and eventual citizenship.

Wanting an attractive younger woman or an American citizenship is not a bad thing. Problems are caused by how one goes about getting these things. While women can be exploited this article will be more about how women exploit men. Romantic exploitation is often a carefully calculated matrimonial plan. Perhaps we should call it the matrimonial business plan. Before the promotion begins, a women often picks her target market, crafts the product and then they make themselves available in the right places. Next is an interesting part of any business plan, what will be the price. There can be a qualifying price and a real price. Many women will be looking at net assets to qualify a potential marriage victim. I have encountered this asset interview more times than I can count.  I really try to avoid places where these women hunt, but I may start attending events again now that I have this website. I had a Chinese friend and he would comment quite often that women at these events didn’t want to pay a sham marriage broker so they were looking to use their feminine Charm to stay in America.

Emotional attacks of this nature are often difficult to defend against. The reason men are so vulnerable is because love entails acceptance, trust, and a desire to put the other person’s wellbeing at least on the same level as one’s own. If you are going to love someone you are going to be vulnerable to exploitation. If there is an industry build around exploiting love then you must be extra cautious.

When defending against these emotional and financial attacks it’s hard to develop the proper position without looking like a man who wants to exploit the woman. If the man even looks a little like he’s trying to exploit the woman society will surly say the woman was right in taking advantage of the man. In this game, if men are honest they are always playing defense. Not only does the man need to play defense, but he needs to do it with political finesse. Using political tact is even more crucial if the man really loves the woman.

While the relationship may seem perfect in the beginning, the man should not allow himself to be seduced into believing all will be well in the future. It may be three years before the man wakes up to the shocking news that his “loving” wife is leaving because she no longer needs him. If the relationship does turn out to be solely for profit the man without a defensive position will experience more than a broken heart. Along with emotional suffering the man may very well face financial ruin. After the man is used to get citizenship he often needs to engaged the one he loves in a legal battle as the enemy. After the court battles are over he’s then discarded like trash. Men need to build a defensive position early in the relationship.

Remember not all women are laying a trap, but many are. I have never dated a woman who was deceitfully trying to trap me. However, I have known many men who have. I have a friend who is Asian (not Chinese) and married a woman from his country of origin and she played the same trick on him. So this is a problem with all American citizens not just those of European decent.

Some countries produce more women looking for professional gain through marriage than other countries. You should learn about the culture you desire to marry into.

There are strategies for softening the effects of a deceitful woman. The first thing most people think of is a prenuptial agreement. I have had an attorney tell me that a prenup would not be valid unless the woman was represented by an attorney who was fluent in the woman’s native language.

One of the diseases that needs some attention is tuberculosis (TB). TB is a lung disease consisting of bacteria in the lungs. It is spread in the air when infected people cough, sneeze or spit. In many parts of Asia it is the custom to not cover one’s moth when coughing or sneezing. I always hate riding on public transportation with a bunch of people coughing and sneezing on me. To westerners this is quite repulsive, but in a lot of Asian counties this is acceptable behavior.

Most people with TB don’t even know they have it. At any given time the majority of people with TB are in a dormant state. About 10 percent of people with latent TB will develop the active disease. The sad part is that it will kill as many as half of these people.

Wikipedia states that about “One third of the world’s population is thought to be infected with M. tuberculosis. The distribution of tuberculosis is not uniform across the globe; about 80% of the population in many Asian and African countries test positive in tuberculin tests, while only 5–10% of the US population test positive” This means that if you’re on a bus or train in Asia there is a good chance you will be expose to tuberculosis.
